Send Event :: Introduction
The send event feature enables end users to email events to other end users. This feature has been implemented as a gateway interface similar to the Event Retrieval Interface and allows Calendar Administrators to build applications around the Send Event Interface to enhance and extend its capabilities.
Due to the increased complexity of sending an event via the Send Event Interface and retrieving an event via the Event Retrieval Interface, it is necessary to break up the Send Event Interface into multiple stages. There are three main stages involved in sending an event. We refer to these stages as states. The first state is the input state where information is collected, the second state is the send state where emails are compiled and sent, and the third state is the complete state which alerts end users of send completion. Each state is associated with one or more Template Types to allow for easy branding.
