- I submitted an event for publication to a calendar. How will I know if it has been published?
If you are listed as the event contact, you will receive an email notification informing you that your event has been published to a calendar. If you are the approver of a calendar and you submit an event to this calendar, your event will be automatically approved and you will not receive an email.
- It has been three days since I submitted an event to the University Events Calendar. Why hasn't it been posted yet?
The University Events Calendar approvers review events that are taking place within the next 30 days. If your event is not taking place within the next 30 days, it may take a few weeks for it to be reviewed. If you have an urgent need for your event to be posted, please email eventscalendar@columbia.edu.
- I created an event but it doesn't appear anywhere. What's wrong?
Sundial event listings appear on live web calendars only when they are actively submitted for publication. To suggest an event to a calendar, use the 'Publish Event' tab for that event. If you have suggestor privileges, your event will remain in the publication queue until an approver has reviewed it. If you have approver privileges, you can select 'publish' on the 'Publish Event' tab to approve the event immediately to the selected calendar.
- I would like to be able to suggest events to another department's calendar. How do I do this?
Please email sundial-help@columbia.edu with the name and URL of the calendar to which you would like to suggest events. A Sundial representative will connect you with the administrator of the calendar, who must grant you permission to suggest events to that calendar.
- I manage a calendar and there are events pending for my calendar that I can't view or edit. How do I get access to view or edit these events?
If you are not able to view events that are in your calendar queue, please contact sundial-help@columbia.edu. You may not be able to edit all events in your calendar queue because of permissions restrictions. If you would like to make or request a change to a pending event for which you do not have edit event permissions, please contact the person listed as the event contact directly. He or she can make the change themselves or grant you permission to edit the event under their event's 'permissions' tab.
- How do I suggest an event for publication on a calendar? How long does it take for an event to be published? How long will it remain on a calendar for?
To suggest an event for publication to a calendar, select the 'Publish Event' tab for your event. From here, select the 'suggestible' or 'decidable' radio button. Under the 'suggestible' menu, you will have the opportunity to suggest your event for review and approval for a calendar. Under the 'decidable' menu, you will be able to publish your event immediately to any calendars for which you have approval privileges.
Calendars across the University vary in how long it takes for events to be reviewed for approval and how long events are displayed once they are approved. The University Events Calendar approvers review events that are occurring within the next 14-30 days. Once an event is approved, it remains on the University Events Calendar until the event time has passed. For more information about the University Events Calendar, email eventscalendar@columbia.edu.
- My event says that it has been published to my calendar, but I do not see it on the live calendar. What's wrong?
