E-Commerce

Important Note: At this time, Sundial cannot process international credit cards.  If you expect registrants to pay with international credit cards, please contact the Office of the Treasurer for an alternate solution.

E-Commerce allows you to accept payment for event registration. Gift Systems, when linked with e-commerce, allows you to accept donations in conjunction with payment for event registration. In order to utilize these features, you must have a Virtual Merchant account through Elavon, the University’s preferred vendor. If you are also utilizing the donation function, you must have a Gift Systems account with UDAR.  Click here for information on establishing these accounts and connecting them with Sundial.

To accept payment for event registration, scroll to the e-commerce section of the registration set-up page, check "enable e-commerce" and enter the required information. You will also need to ensure that you create registration form fields that collect any necessary information for payment.

Base Price

This is the minimum cost of attending this event. Any additional costs incurred by registration options can be added on a per field basis in the Registration Form Set-Up.

Giving Configuration

Sundial is integrated with Columbia University's Gift Systems. For more details, please refer to the online giving documentation.

Allow Offline Payment?

When this box is checked, registrants will have the option to pay offline. This box is automatically checked when a Merchant Account has not been selected, since registrants will not be able to pay online unless a Merchant Account is associated with the Event. When a Merchant Account has been selected, Offline Payment can be disabled.

Offline Payment Instructions

The Offline Payment Instructions should be used to inform registrants who select the offline payment option how to submit payment. These instructions are required if Offline Payment is enabled. These instructions are included in the DEFAULT brand's Registration Status Screen Template and Registration Status Email Template. If you have a custom brand for your event, you should test registration to make sure these instructions are included via the %Event_Offline_Payment_Message% template tag. Here is an example of how the tag may best be utilized:

%if 'RSVP_Payment_Status' = 'O'%
<p>%Event_Offline_Payment_Message%</p>
%endif%

Privacy Policy

In order to meet Elavon's requirements for E-Commerce forms, you must define a privacy policy. This policy should describe what personal information you will withhold the right to distribute to third parties, or state that the information will not be distributed.

If you define a privacy policy in a Sundial Brand, whenever you select that brand for an event, this field will be automatically populated.

Refund Policy

Sundial does not support the ability to issue refunds within the application itself. If your group does decide to offer refunds, you will need to do so directly through Virtual Merchant or Gift Systems as appropriate.

If you define a refund policy in a Sundial Brand, whenever you select that brand for an event, this field will be automatically populated.
